- All silica Step Index Multimode fibers - Core diameter from 40µm to 105µm - N.A : 0.22 or 0.15 - Raman pumping
DESCRIPTION Typical operating wavelengths range from 780 nm to 980 nm. Launch fibers are designed with low numerical apertures and are available in a variety of core diameters. These fibers have a standard 125µm cladding diameter and are coated with a 250µm dual-acrylate buffer which allows for easy mechanical stripping. For adverse environments where tight bend radius or high temperatures are encountered, we offer carbon or polyimide coatings. All launch fibers can be metalized for hermetic sealing into opto-electronic devices
APPLICATIONS Launch fibers are a family of multimode step-index fibers in an all-silica construction. They are used to create specialized launch conditions in both single-mode and multimode communications networks, especially in diode pumping systems. The most common application is Raman pumping that is pumping at 915 and 980 nm into Ytterbium and Erbium double clad fibers. Other applications for these fibers include : medical, industrial, printing and military.
