DESCRIPTION
Polarization maintaining fibers utilize industry-standard, circular stress applying parts (SAPs) to create two axis in the core, each of which guides light at different velocity. Polarized light launched into either axis will remain polarized as it is guided. This technology allows easier alignment of the polarization axis when splicing two fibers or making components.
Fiber reference must be chosen according to operating wavelength. Standard coating is 400µm diameter. For small packaging a smaller coating of 245µm or even a micro fiber of 80µm cladding with 165µm coating can be selected.
